Greater Manchester’s mayor Andy Burnham has listed housing and getting serious about rogue landlords as top of his agenda for 2024. As a result, the Good Landlord Charter is currently in its consultation phase and has been designed to help tenants distinguish between accredited and rogue landlords in both private and social housing.

Bringing together a range of services from the police and fire service, the scheme will help tackle rogue landlords. The Good Landlord Charter is intended to be the first of its kind: an ambitious voluntary standard for landlord excellence, no matter what kind of housing they let.
